Stuart D. Sleeman

Summary

Mr. Sleeman has over 19 years of experience in professional consulting and operations management.  He has significant experience working with a variety of industries where he designed and implemented numerous Environmental Health & Safety programs for both individual facilities and for corporate-wide operations.  He also has extensive international experience, having worked in more than two-dozen countries in Asia, Europe and the Americas.  Mr. Sleeman has developed protocols and auditing standards for facilities in more than a dozen countries, and has developed and implemented benchmarking studies for several Fortune 500 firms.  Mr. Sleeman was an Executive Vice President for an international energy products firm, and co-managed the capital raising of more than $25 million for this venture.  He was also responsible for managing and directing technology development efforts that led to over a half dozen patents for industrial processing.  Mr. Sleeman also co-patented a unique technique for certification of businesses for international standards and protocols

As a member of the management team for each of the companies listed above, Mr. Sleeman was primarily responsible for the technical oversight of EHS departments and staff.  He successfully established operating budgets, profitability and productivity goals, and expanded technical services for each of the organizations with which he has been associated.  In addition Mr. Sleeman has provided valuable expertise to clients on specific matters such as the OSHA regulatory process, incident investigation and the associated legal analysis. 

 

Relevant Experience

The following is a selected listing of representative assignments:

·         AT&T, Lucent Technologies & NCR - Responsible for the development and evolution of a multi-country facility environmental management program.  Project duties included technical oversight of over 30 domestic and 20 international facility audits and restructuring of AT&T’s existing environmental management programs.  Mr. Sleeman was able to successfully continue the account after the decentralization of AT&T and provide continued service to each of the remaining entities at over 200 US Locations.

·         Nortel - Program Manager and Technical Director for the identification, development, and implementation of a “World Class” model for the telecommunications industry.  Successfully benchmarked the leading telecommunications companies to identify management drivers and designed implementation processes for both manufacturing and non-manufacturing operations. Implemented an outsourced facility environmental management program for their Santa Clara, CA manufacturing facility.  Reduced EH&S operating costs by over 25% and focused the program to better meet corporate objectives.  Was requested to implement the program nationally.

·         SpeedFam-IPEC – Assisted in the development of strategy for provision of a uniform standard for EH&S awareness and training to all international employees.  Providing in-country personnel for translation services, and training of in-country facility personnel for this semi-conductor manufacturer in Europe and Asia.  Assisting with the technical evaluation and expansion of a new Cleanroom Design.

·         Texas Instruments - Providing outsourced Health and Safety Management to their manufacturing facility in Massachusetts. Reduced the facility’s injury metrics by 52% in a four-month period, winning accolades from the corporate office.  This was achieved with no additional cost to the firm but through an aggressive program to reduce injuries, redirecting of staff goals, and improving internal communications.  Additionally, Mr. Sleeman is providing international support services to facilities in Mexico & China.

·         Digital Equipment Corporation – Project Manager for the corporate offices’ facility evaluation program.  Provided detailed assessments of EHS performance at facilities in the USA and Asia.  Outlined areas for improvement and oversaw the provision of technical assistance to these facilities.

·         Antaeus Energy - Supervised the outsourcing of the Environmental Health and Safety staff and the implementation and certification of ISO 14000 in an 8-month period. Utilized EHS parameters to improve the Company’s market penetration through the oversight of a proactive compliance program.  The company won awards from the West Virginia Governor and Council for Economic Development in 1998 as a result.

·         Successfully designed and implemented EHS management programs for Delaware North (USA Facilities), W.R. Grace (Western Europe), Owens-Illinois (Eastern Europe), New Boston Food Market (Massachusetts), Consolidated Edison (New York) and United Technologies (Pratt & Whitney, Carrier and Otis Facilities in India, China, Japan, Korea, Singapore, Indonesia, Taiwan, as well as in Europe and the United States).

·         Developed and implemented over 100 EMAS, BS7750 and ISO 14000 assessment programs in 25 different countries.
